As part of a preventive action, the Dirección de Seguridad Pública Municipal (DSPM) - Directorate of Municipal Public Security, -conducted a "Backpack" operating in San Felipe's Secondary Technical 6. The surprise search, using a canine unit, discovered a minor in possession of a half dozen marijuana cigarettes.

Random reviews were conducted to ensure the safety of the 600 students who attend the academic institution. The student in question was handed over to the Unidad de Atención a Menores de Edad (UAME), -the 'Attention to Minors Unit,-with the consent of the director of the campus.

In addition to these actions, agents using the dogs gave talks to schools about drug prevention and the promotion of values. The K9 team was popular with the students throughout their visit.

Yesterday the team attended school in the "Plan Nacional Agrario", the ejido north of town. Hundreds of students were amazed with the demonstrations the agents performed with their dogs, such as drug and weapons detection.

The team also showed students how to immobilize violent criminals who threaten the physical safety. Another lesson was how to take preventive measures to protect themselves in case of a robbery. The agents also stressed the risks and consequences of carrying or using drugs.
