Mexicali, Baja California -

After an intense manhunt that began on Tuesday, the law enforcement arm of the Attorney General of the State (PGJE) managed to arrest the alleged murderer of Mexicali's Lizbeth Bibriesca Janeth Valdez, 12 years of age.

The Deputy of Organized Crime, José María González Martínez, along with other officials, attended yesterday morning's press conference to publicize the arrest of of Emmanuel "N", age 26, alias "The Snowman ", in the port of San Felipe.

The suspect, who claimed to be a native of Sonora, was the subject of an intense three day search after the body of the child was found buried in the courtyard of his home, only yards from the residence of the Bibriesca family.

The detainee is already being processed through the New System of Criminal Justice and was given his first hearing early yesterday in San Felipe.

According to research, officers had discovered the suspect had purchased a bus ticket for the port destination where he intended to hide after allegedly committing the horrific crime. According to data provided by the Procuraduría, he was looking for employment.

Several units of the PGJE kept constant watch on both the Central Bus Depot of Mexicali and the airport. They also monitored the homes of relatives and close friends of "The Snowman".

Authorities were seeking coordination with other legal entities in the event he tried to flee the state.

The incident occurred in the Victoria Residential Division where young Janeth Valdez went to a local store to recharge her mother's cell phone and simply disappeared. However, inquiries revealed there were two cell phone recharges, one of them for the alleged murderer, whose gender aroused suspicions that led to the search which culminated in the discovery of the body by the Centro de Atención a Personas Extraviadas o Ausentes (CAPEA). She had been raped before she was killed.

Once he was captured in San Felipe, "The Snowman" was immediately transferred under harsh security measures to an available judge, who issued an arrest warrant for him.

The official story by authorities establishes that the subject had no fixed address, used a bicycle for transportation, and was apprehended at dawn while waiting for businesses to open so he could apply for work
