Fatal Shooting
 


San Felipe, Baja, Mexico

At 6:30am Saturday morning, August 20th, 2011, a man identified as Guillermo Audelo Murrieta, 38, was shot to death after he opened fire on local authorities as they investigated a report of illicit activities at the Hotel Alborada, north of San Felipe.

According to police sources, the soldiers arrived at the hotel after they received reports of a man in room 14 who allegedly sold narcotics.

When elements of the XIX Drawn Infantry Company entered the room, they were greeted by gun shots.

Soldiers repelled the attack with high-caliber weapons, fatally wounding the alleged offender in his right shoulder. They called for paramedics but by the time medical help arrived, the man was dead .

Municipal Police Officers were dispatched to the location while elements of the State Attorney General's Office, as well as representatives of the Special Unit Against Organized Crime, carried out their corresponding tasks.

Iit was learned that agents from the Attorney General's Office assigned to the state delegation came to the site to clarify the jurisdiction of each of the judicial entities.

Inside the room, authorities found two .22 caliber rifles and a shotgun. Also found were more than 90 doses of crystal meth.
